Regan Wheeler

The community in October 2005 was shocked and saddened by a deadly shooting of a man who was in his driveway, and so far police have been unable to solve the case.

Regan Wheeler was a family man, and a man of faith according to authorities when he was shot and killed on October 13 in his own driveway. Now 16 years later, the combined efforts of federal and metro area officials are increasing the amount being offered for information leading to an arrest in Wheeler’s murder has been increased.

Per a press release this afternoon from the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office, the reward has increased to $30,000. Atlanta Crime Stoppers put in $14,000, and the FBI has added another $16,000 reward to combine to the new figure.

Officials have teamed up locally with the FBI to help in the investigation, which pledged both manpower and financial resources to help with the case.

“Detectives and agents believe that someone out there has a key piece of information that they have kept to themselves for the past 16 years,” the release stated. “They further believe that this piece of information, no matter how small, could lead to an arrest in this case.”

Additional funding toward a reward may be increased as well as the Wheeler family has a GoFundMe campaign underway in hopes that they can contribute additional financial incentive for someone to come forward. So far, that fund has added $1,450 toward the reward to find Wheeler’s killer or killers.

Wheeler was shot and killed in his driveway on the evening of October 13, 2005 when authorities believe he arrived home and interrupted a burglary at his residence.

Authorities haven’t given up on the case even after 16 years, and also have assistance from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation as well.
