Paulding Deputies arrest an 18 year old Union City man for the murder of a Paulding County resident on Saturday October 14, 2023. The 18 year old, later identified as Oscar Ubaldo Vega-Aguirre (H/M, 18 YOA), came to 317 Shenandoah Drive Hiram, GA on Saturday at approximately 1:30 PM to buy a dirt bike from the owner/victim after seeing it advertised online.
When Vega-Aguirre got there, he met with the owner/victim, Joshua Alan Swink (W/M, 41 YOA).
After a brief interaction between Swink and Vega-Aguirre, a confrontation arose. As a result of that confrontation/disagreement between the two men, Vega-Aguirre shot Swink multiple times, ultimately killing him.
Vega-Aguirre fled the scene on foot where he tried to enlist a ride from a ride share service.
Thanks to some of our alert Deputies combined with witnesses giving an excellent description of Vega-Aguirre, our Deputies were able to perform a traffic stop on the ride share service vehicle before it left the county, ultimately taking Vega-Aguirre into custody without incident. Vega-Aguirre has been charged with the following offenses:
Oscar Ubaldo Vega-Aguirre (H/M, 18 YOA) was charged with felony murder, malice murder and aggravated assault, all felonies.
Vega-Aguirre is currently being held in the Paulding County Jail with no bond.
