The Dallas Police Department is seeking the public’s help today in tracking down a man wanted for theft of an unusual item from an uncommon spot, and hope to bring the suspect they believe responsible to justice.
A May vehicle break-in at Benson Funeral Home prompted Dallas Police detectives to seek out 56-year-old Michael Christopher Johnson of Florida for an entering automobile warrant.
Per a release from the department provided today, Dallas PD responded initially to Benson Funeral Home on Monday, May 6 after they found one of the funeral home vehicles was broken into and a medical stretcher was taken from inside and carried away.
An official with Dallas Police noted they believe Johnson took the stretcher in an attempt to sell it to another funeral home.
The release noted that Johnson is connected to other Metro Atlanta incidents and is wanted in other counties for similar incidents. Johnson also is reported to have an extensive history of theft.
Police provided both a mugshot and a picture of his van and are hoping the public will be able to help track him down.
Those with information are asked to contact Dallas Police at 770-443-8100 if they have information.
