It’s worth the time to stop by the new location of a Dallas-based fitness organization that is now calling Rockmart home as well.

Owner Abbe Hockaday joined with staff and trainers at Rockmart’s newest local business Abb’s Muscle & Fitness Gym, which celebrated their ribbon cutting with the Polk County Chamber of Commerce last Friday, October 22. The new location officially opened on October 16.

Abb’s Muscle & Fitness Gym, now also located in Rockmart next to Walmart at 1775 Nathan Dean Parkway, is available for members to use in both their Dallas and Rockmart locations.

“I’m very excited about where we are and where we’re going,” she told those gathered for the ceremony. “I know that it’s more than just a gym, it’s a ministry. A lot of people have been touched.”

Hockaday, an International Federation of Body Building and Fitness (IFBB) professional in Women’s Physique, earned her pro card at the age of 50. She’s also a Christian, and sees the gym as an opportunity to reach out to people coming to utilize the gym through their faith as much as through helping train their bodies.

She started her professional journey in bodybuilding while also working at Rheem Manufacturing for nearly 15 years, and since then launched her first gym in Dallas, and expanded to Rockmart in recent weeks. Her bio explains that her goal is to “promote a holistic lifestyle through getting in shape, eating healthier, and encouraging others to do the same!”

Abb’s Muscle & Fitness Gym offers a variety of services and classes, including personal training, lifestyle fitness coaching, meal planning, strength training, tanning, and more. Classes are available like Yoga, Cardio Boot Camp, and even SilverSneakers and Renew Active programs.

Those without a membership can come check out the gym to sign up from Monday to Thursday 10 a.m. to 7:30 pm, Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
