They’re about to start up the third Citizens Police Academy in August, and those interested in participating can sign up now to learn about a variety of areas and issues that face law enforcement on a regular basis.

The Dallas Police Department is hosting its 3rd Citizens Police Academy.
Date: August 8, 2023 – October 24, 2023.
Time: Tuesday Nights 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm
Location: Dallas Civic Center
Our mission is the education of Dallas citizens in the operations and practices of their Dallas Police Department. The program encourages participants to provide invaluable feedback to foster enhanced police and community relations.
The academy is perfect for community members, business owners, religious leaders, prospective officers, college students, criminal justice majors, and retirees.
Each week, the class focuses on different aspects of law enforcement, giving students an overview of the department’s duties and responsibilities. Some of the units covered are:
- Community Outreach
- Firearms Safety and Shooting Fundamentals (range day)
- E911 Center
- Criminal Investigations
- Uniform Patrol
- Gangs
- Georgia Use of Force
- Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (C.R.A.S.E.)
- Uniform Patrol Operations
- Narcotics Investigations
- Traffic Stops and DUI enforcement
The 12-week program is open to all Paulding residents and citizens who work in Paulding County, 21 years or older. Applicants must be willing to submit to a criminal history check and a driving record check before being accepted as a Citizen’s Police Academy student.
