Monday marked the start of a new group taking over sanitation services for the City of Hiram, and GFL Environmental’s cans will soon no longer be accepted for residents who are rolling their trash to the end of the driveway.
The city posted on Facebook on Wednesday that the new sanitation service began on Monday, July 10. GFL Environmental’s cans still remain in place, and thus they are going to allow a one-time courtesy pickup of trash in GFL/Waste Industries cans.
After the one-time pickup, all trash must be in the new city-supplied cans to be serviced curbside.
“Due to the city having to pick up the trash in the old GFL cans, as well as the new City of Hiram cans, the pick up schedule has been slowed down,” Wednesday’s Facebook post noted. “We ask that our citizens bear with us throughout this transition, and know that we are diligently working to solve the issue.”
The city additionally posted more information about the route slowdowns on their website.
