Darlene Nicole Brister

Two new felony charges have been filed against a mother who is accused of stabbing her own children and lighting her west Paulding house on fire this past Friday evening, per an update this evening from the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office.

Officials notified Paulding Today that Darlene Brister, 40, of 776 Woodwind Drive, now faces three felony charges of malice murder stemming from the stabbing of three of her children during a June 24 incident at their home, and a new charge of felony arson: building, vehicle, railroad car, watercraft under circumstances that endanger human life.

These charges stem from the death of a nine-month-old, a three-year-old and later a five-year-old child at Brister’s home this past Friday evening, which she is also alleged to light on fire with seven children in the house.

Police found two of the children dead on the scene, and the five-year-old later died at the hospital.

Brister remains in jail without bond set on the four charges as of early Saturday morning.
