Paulding County Emergency Management officials noted that stormy weather overnight in Paulding County left behind quite a bit of damage to cleanup today, including one home that required the occupants to be rescued.

An official estimate of how many were without power wasn’t immediately available, but it is believed to have been thousands overnight and into the morning hours – with less than 1% of residents still lacking electricity as of this afternoon according to EMA Coordinator Eve Cogsdell. Three houses in total were damaged, and one in the Paulding County area required “extrication of the occupants” after a tree fell through the house.

“No injuries were reported with this event,” she stated.

She noted much of the damage was caused by downed trees and power lines across southern and western Paulding County overnight.

Electricity was out overnight and into the morning hours throughout much of those areas.
