DALLAS – The Paulding County Sheriff’s Office and the Paulding-Haralson Drug Task Force were able to nab a violent gang member that proclaimed his membership to the Latin Kings, nabbed after being watched making a drug deal by SWAT Team members in a traffic stop in Dallas last week.

Paulding County Sheriff’s Office officials announced earlier today that they arrested Robert Lewis Anderson, 41, after he was spotted by Drug Task Force agents working with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation on another case at a store within the city limits of Dallas.

The release stated that Anderson – a known violent offender wanted out of Haralson County – was followed by agents to a known location where drugs are sold in Dallas, and watched while he made a “hand-to-hand” drug deal with another suspect not mentioned in the release.

“Agents alerted deputies with the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team, who then performed a traffic stop on the vehicle,” the release stated. “A felony traffic stop was conducted because of Anderson’s violent history combined with the fact that he has a confirmed Blue Alert on his criminal history.”

These are individuals who are known to have “criminal history when they have repeated violent tendencies toward law enforcement,” the release added.

Officers had trouble with Anderson during the arrest and refused to comply with their commands while attempting to destroy a bag of methamphetamine found on the seat as he was told to exit the vehicle.

He was “eventually taken into custody” and faces charges of felony possession of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, tampering with evidence, and probation and parole violations.

He remained as of this posting – per the release – in the Paulding County Jail without bail.

Officers reported that “Anderson is also a self-proclaimed high ranking member of the Latin Kings criminal street gang” in the release.
