ACWORTH — Chattahoochee Technical College celebrated nearly 600 graduates with two commencement ceremonies held Thursday, Dec. 14, at the Clarence Brown Conference Center in Cartersville.
Students participating in commencement crossed the stage to receive Associate of Applied Science degrees, diplomas or Technical Certificate of Credits, which represented dozens of programs of study.
The largest number of graduates by programs of study were those completing associate degrees in Interdisciplinary Studies and in healthcare programs of study. These healthcare programs included Radiography, Physical Therapy Assistant and the Chatt Tech Nursing LPN to RN bridge program.
Popular programs of study for graduates this semester also included Computer Programming, Cybersecurity, Cosmetology, Welding, and Early Childhood Care & Education.
Delivering the keynote address at both commencement ceremonies was Chattahoochee Tech student Breana Miller, the college’s 2023 Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership (GOAL) award recipient for top student.
She graduated this semester with an Associate of Applied Science degree in the college’s Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
“Embrace the challenges as opportunities,” said Miller, “and let the lessons learned within Chatt Tech propel you toward success.”
There were 92 students participating in commencement who completed their programs of study as honor graduates. They wore gold cords to signify this accomplishment. Seven Chattahoochee Tech students who participated in commencement were U.S. military veterans, who wore red, white and blue honor cords.
Also participating in commencement were six Dual Enrollment high school students, who earned college academic credentials from Chatt Tech while remaining enrolled in their own high schools.
Five high students in the college’s Dual Achievement program earned their high school diplomas this semester from the Chatt Tech Academy while also earning college-level academic credentials. Two of these Chatt Tech Academy graduates participated in the commencement ceremonies. The Dual Achievement program offers qualified students an alternate path to high school graduation.
