Dallas is set to host a party this weekend – starting with a race and ending with a concert to give local residents a chance to celebrate the arrival of spring.

The 2022 City Fest is coming up this Saturday, April 23 and kicks off with the 11th annual Race for a Cure 5K Road Race in downtown Dallas, with the race set to start at 8 a.m. Those who don’t get to collect their race packets can stop in on Friday, April 22 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the courtyard on Main Street.

Those who miss that opportunity can pick them up at the starting line at 6:45 a.m. on Saturday.

Anyone who wants to participate must be registered and have dues paid by the 8 a.m. start time. The race will begin at 120 Main St., Dallas.

The race is a Peachtree Road Race official qualifying event for 2022. It is sponsored by Ragsdale Heating Air and Plumbing.

Following the race, the fun continues with the opportunity to enjoy food and shop with vendors before concerts kick off the evening festivities downtown.

Starting at 6 p.m., opener Chuck Martin and The Lineup will take the stage followed at 7 p.m. by Nashville recording artist Angie Lynn Carter, and finishing out the night Black takes the stage at 8 p.m.

Black made his debut in the late 80s and broke out on the country music scene in the early 1990s with is first album Killin’ Time with songs like “A Better Man” and “Killin’ Time,” and despite legal troubles his success grew throughout the 1990s as he put out additional albums, though some of his releases weren’t as popular as he was in the past as country music shifted in sound over time.

Black through the 2000s continued working, and has made a return to popularity in the mainstream in recent years through new releases, including a move to an independent label in 2015 and a new release in 2020.
