The wind has been gusty and cool all day long, and it’ll stay that way through the rest of the evening and into Friday morning as the National Weather Service keeps a wind advisory in place until Friday morning.
However the real threat coming this way is increased rainfall as the NWS in Peachtree City also has the area under a flood watch through 5 p.m. on Friday as well.
The remnants of Hurricane Francine are currently sitting well west of Paulding County in an area of Mississippi, Tennessee, Arkansas and Missouri, but the rotation of the tropical depression (soon to be a rain heavy system) are still pulling warm moisture up from the Gulf coast of Alabama, bringing a line of storms north to south over the neighbors to the west.
Rainfall chances are still in the 50% range, but are expected to increase through Friday and into the weekend.
Those with plans for Saturday and Sunday may want to keep an eye on the skies in order to avoid a drenching rainout, since at least an inch and a half of rain is predicted for the area, and upward of two inches in the southern area of Paulding County.
Temperatures are expected to remain in the mid to upper 70s through the rest of the week and into the weekend, with lows down into the 60s during the overnight hours.
Hurricane Francine made landfall on Wednesday afternoon on the Louisiana coastline, leaving thousands without power in the state and next door on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. As of earlier today, no injuries or deaths had been reported due to the storm.
