Look for wet weather to start overnight and remain for the weekend as the National Weather Service expects Paulding and the rest of Northwest Georgia to get a needed soaking from the remnants of Hurricane Francine.
The storm is set to make landfall in the coming hours based on the predictions made by the National Hurricane Center on the Louisiana-Mississippi Gulf. No direct impact is expected on Paulding County as Hurricane Francine weakens into a tropical storm and depression through Friday evening moving into the Mississippi River valley, then pushing into the Tennessee River Valley over the weekend.
The forecast from the National Weather Service in Peachtree City calls for a rainy weekend in Paulding, with some areas expected to get upward of 2 inches of rain closer into the metro area in the southern portion of the county.
The remnants of the storm should be passing through Paulding and Northwest Georgia as rainfall with potential for some gusty winds and thunderstorms as well. At least an inch of rain is expected for the area, so there is potential for flooding issues to come along as well following a period of dry weather as summer winds down around Northwest Georgia.
Look for temperatures to remain in the mid to upper 70s through the rest of the week and into the weekend as rainfall arrives.
