Local law enforcement and firefighters gathered at Veteran’s Memorial Park this morning to continue a tradition of remembering the victims of a tragedy that impacted the entire globe – and continues to change the course of history.
Honor Guard members from both the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office and Paulding County Fire Rescue held a ceremony to remember the fallen who died on September 11, 2001 when terrorists crashed planes into the World Trade Center twin towers in New York City on that fateful morning, and into the side of the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia. A fourth plane went down thanks to the efforts of passengers attempting to overcome terrorists on the plane in a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
Honor guards and officials were joined by members of the community for the ceremony on Wednesday morning as a wreath was placed at the 9/11 Memorial Monument in the park.
Sheriff Gary Gulledge and others spoke during the morning ceremony as well.
