Students and staff at schools around the area are off ahead of the impending arrival of Hurricane (probably Tropical Storm by the time it gets here) Helene to Paulding County ahead of the weekend.
Here’s an updated list of closures (that might be updated periodically) announced before the storm impacts the area:
Paulding County School District announced the closure of their campuses across the county, and suspension of extracurricular activities after school for Thursday, September 26 and Friday, September 27. A decision had not yet been made about football for Dalton-Hiram on Friday night, and was expected on Friday morning.
Praise Academy is closed for Thursday, September 26 and Friday, September 27. Their offices will resume business on Saturday, September 28 (per their Facebook posting.)
Chattahoochee Technical College classes that begin after 4 p.m. on Thursday, September 26 are canceled. Campuses will close at 5 p.m., and will remain closed on Friday.
The Night Market AND Moonlit Movie planned for this Friday, September 27 is called off due to the impending weather, and a reschedule date will be announced by Downtown Dallas.
The Paulding County Health Department will be closed on Friday, September 27 due to the weather.
The administrative offices for the City of Hiram closed at 3 p.m. today and will remain shuttered on Friday for the storm.
Paulding County government administrative offices are also closed on Friday, September 27. Courts are also closed along with other offices, but essential employees such as law enforcement and public works are expected to come into work.

The City of Villa Rica announced their offices will be closed on Friday, September 27.
The North Georgia State Fair in Cobb County has decided to close down operations for the rest of the week.
Schools in neighboring counties have elected to close or curtail school activities to digital classrooms over the next two days. Those include: Bartow County, Floyd County, Gordon County, Haralson County and Polk County districts.
The Polk and Haralson County Public Health Departments will be closed on Friday.
