The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office earlier this morning announced the sad news that Investigator Taylor Bristow succumbed to his injuries overnight after days in critical condition at Grady Memorial Hospital.
The Sheriff’s Office made the announcement on social media overnight, and area departments immediately began to share their thoughts and condolences over the CCSO’s loss.
The CCSO posted the following:
Tonight, we mourn the passing of Investigator Bristow, who has left this earth and gained his heavenly wings. He served our community with unwavering passion and dedicated his life to protecting the citizens of Carroll County. We are deeply saddened and at a loss for words. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers, and kindly respect their privacy as they grieve this profound loss.
Bristow was shot on Tuesday morning in Carrollton while serving a search warrant with other deputies in a GBI-led investigation involving illicit material on digital devices. Christopher Bly, 40, of Carrollton, met officers at the door when they knocked, then went back inside and grabbed a firearm, shooting Bristow and himself in the process.
The Sheriff’s Office has not yet posted any further information at this time.
Funeral services will be announced in the coming days.
Carroll County joined the local area in mourning a fallen public servant after last week’s tragic events.
On Friday, the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office was joined by many others and the community as a whole in honoring the life of Deputy Brandon Cunningham, who died in the line of duty on August 17. Funeral services and a procession were held on Friday afternoon in Dallas, and Deputy Cunningham was laid to rest at Kennesaw Memorial Park.
